What is InMail?

InMail is LinkedIn's paid messaging product — message any LinkedIn user without first being connected. Sales Navigator and Recruiter seats include monthly InMail credits.

InMail vs connection request

Connection requests are free but capped weekly and require the prospect to accept before you can message. InMails reach the inbox immediately, but cost a credit and have lower reply rates than warm connection messages.

InMail credit mechanics

Sales Navigator Core includes 50 InMails/month. Sales Navigator Advanced 50. Recruiter Lite 30. Unused credits roll over up to 150. Replied InMails refund the credit (positive replies count).

Best practices

Keep it under 150 words. One question. Reference the prospect's specific recent activity, not their job title. Free-text body, simple subject line. Avoid pitch decks in the first message.
