What is LinkedIn account warm-up?

Warm-up is the deliberate ramp of a new (or recently dormant) LinkedIn account's activity over several weeks before running outreach. Skipping warm-up is the most common cause of account restrictions.

Why warm-up

LinkedIn's anti-abuse systems profile each account's normal activity baseline. Going from zero to 100 invites per day on a fresh account screams bot. Going from zero to 5 to 15 to 40 to 80 over four weeks looks like a real user growing into the platform.

Standard warm-up curve

Week 1: profile completion, 5 invites/day, 10 likes/day, 1 post. Week 2: 10 invites/day, 20 likes, 2 posts, join 5 groups. Week 3: 20 invites/day, comment on 10 posts. Week 4: ramp to your target volume.

Home IP during warm-up

Critical: do warm-up from the same IP you'll run production outreach. Switching IPs mid-warm-up resets the trust score.

Infonet warm-up mode
